Baby Steps is responsible for having proverbially renovated the hip hop scene in Buffalo NY back in February 1999. In giving local emcees, djs, breakdancers, vocalists, and visual artists a weekly gathering place with comprehensive programming, the scene flourished. Throughout the years Baby Steps has brought a long list of hip hop legends to the Queen City, while doing work in the community, and in artist development towards the creation of a successful hip hop community. The anniversary shows are not only a celebration, but a continuation of the rich tradition Baby Steps has established in Buffalo, across the country, and abroad.

 

 

Every year this anticipated event operates on multiple levels: of course there is the reunion aspect where the original DJs, hosts and emcees perform, there’s the party-down atmosphere year after year where a resounding good time is had by all, and then there is the always elusive Mystery Guest. Some Mystery Guests of Anniversaries past have been: Breezily Brewin of the Juggaknots, Count Bass D, One Be Lo, El Da Sensei, Porn Theater Ushers, and more... but you’ll never know unless you’re real sharp and attentive who it will be until you get to the show!
