PUSH's Citizen Citations are Working!

During a check-in this morning on all of our "violation" signs that we had posted a few months back, we discovered something amazing- Fifteen of the cited, City-owned abandoned properties had been demolished and 13 of those properties had orange "violation" signs on them, marking them as properties we determined to be beyond repair.

 

 

Now, we here at PUSH do not condone demolition as a standalone strategy (because it won't work) but it is an integral piece of our Anti-Poverty Platform;, to get the City to knock down the worst of the worst, 20 on the West Side, 100 City-wide. With the pressure we've put on with the violation signs, it looks like folks down at City Hall that people know what they need where they live and that to ignore OUR solutions is disrespect!
