Recreational marijuana is now legal in NYS! And with it, the automatic expunging of some marijuana-related criminal records. The Hon. Crystal D. People-Stokes, Majority Leader of the New York State Assembly, 141st District, is hosting a free clinic on April 10, 22 and 24 to explain how the new law works and how to take advantage of automatic expungement. *Registration is required* to attend! Marijuana Expungement Clinic
The purpose of this clinic is to:
- Explain automatic expungement as it pertains to this law;
- Provide each client with a client memorandum that fully explains the law;
- Advise clients regarding the right to request the destruction of the conviction records for (EL. 221.05 & P.L. 221.10).
- Advise against requesting destruction of records for any noncitizen and provide a supplemental handout specific to immigration;
- Assist clients who wish to request destruction to accurately complete the necessary application; and
- Notaries will be provided
