About the Maintenance Technician Position

Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs routine maintenance on buildings, properties and associated systems.
• Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
• Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
• Completes daily work orders efficiently and timely. Communicates any delays in completing a work order with the supervisor and management office.
• Troubleshoots and repairs maintenance issues involving electrical, plumbing, A/C, HVAC, appliances, and carpentry.
• Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
• Works with office team to ensure all make-ready repairs and services are completed and on schedule.
• Maintains accurate records for preventative maintenance, building mechanicals, service requests and apartment make-ready status.
• Responds to after hour on-call emergencies.
• Stays current on all applicable building codes and safety standards.
• Maintains trash rooms and dumpster areas.
• Assists in the proper clearing of snow during a snow event.
• Coordinates proper workshop inventory with maintenance superintendent.
• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples include repairing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting tasks.
• Repairs and treats structures such as showers, sinks, appliances, doors/cabinets, walls and building exteriors.
• Prepares units for new move‐ins.
• Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance, on call required.
• Schedules and completes preventative maintenance program.
• Completes grounds work such as: grounds pick up, sweeping, snow removal and landscaping.
• Coordinates special projects as needed.
• Conducts community maintenance work, service requests, punch-outs, building inspections and preventative maintenance as requested.
• Ensures all work has been completed in a safe, prompt and professional manner.
• Communicates with Property Manager about demonstrated concerns of the community.
• Maintains inventory of equipment, tools and supplies.
• Performs job duties in ways that will promote and uphold our organization’s mission.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications
• Two (2) years’ related/transferable work experience
• High School Diploma, Equivalent or and/or equivalent experience
• Excellent customer service skills required. Must be able to communicate clearly, cordially with tenants and community members.
• Experience managing like facilities, equipment, and events preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and familiar with work order systems key.
• A proactive, creative, and flexible attitude.
• Willing to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary.
• Previous direct supervisory experience is preferred.
• A valid NYS driver’s license and access to reliable private transportation is helpful. • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Physical Requirements
• Must be able to withstand prolonged periods standing and walking throughout facilities.
• Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds (unassisted) at times.
• Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, kneel, squat, balance, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings.
• Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must be able to perform all activities in a safe manner in accordance with PUSH Buffalo policies. procedures, training and using personal protective equipment provided at the property when required. • Work time may be evenly split between office settings or in the neighborhoods. Limited local travel is required.

The salary range for this position, starting salary to be determined by combination of education, experience, and skill level, is:

  • $21.44 – 22.76 per hour
