Elle Vie’s Story Time

About the Event

Note: While this event takes place in a physical location, it maintains socially practices.

Elle Vie’s Story time in the park provides the following outlets/resources:

  • A free space for both parents and youth to express themselves
  • Free snacks and water
  • Free artistic materials to express themselves while listening to the stories read
  • Free bubbles, balloons, clay/slime and other motor skill development therapeutic toys
  • Stories read by myself and participating parents/community members
  • An opportunity to express themselves through body movement and dance
  • The ability to positively connect with their family, and nature in a COVID safe environment (we provide free kid masks, sanitizer and encourage social distancing)

“Parents have been able to take their little ones to the library and have story hour with the librarian or volunteers of the library. That valuable educational resource is no longer allowed due to the limitations of libraries not being able to host story time or allow youth and young children to congregate in the library. Having an outlet or safe space to be outside of the home is EXTREMELY important for the safety, health and well-being of many of Buffalo’s youth at this time. The negative effects of mental health neglect, in home abuse, lack of resources in the home and other strenuous issues have skyrocketed during this pandemic. It is a paramount priority that both our parents and their children receive assistance and relief.” – Elle Vie

The Frank Meriwether Library has offered a space for this to continue once the weather changes, so this will be an opportunity for families to continue enjoying stories and positive interaction despite the impending weather!
