MLI Training Series: Self-Interest

Interested in becoming a member leader at PUSH Buffalo? Want to build skills to be an effective organizer and advocate for justice in your community? Join other community members for a powerful movement leadership training series this Fall as part of the launch of PUSH Buffalo’s new Movement Leadership Institute and Community Hub.

The training series will provide an introduction to PUSH Buffalo’s strategies for community-driven change in the areas of affordable housing, anti-displacement, and climate and environmental justice, and train participants in foundational skills of community organizing and power building that can be used to improve conditions in our neighborhoods.

Self-interest
We’re born into and come of age in particular political and cultural histories. We embody different class, race, and gender-based identities. And we hold onto worldviews that help us make meaning of our circumstances and inform our decisions. Our self-interest is where all of these things collide. Learn about the difference between selfishness, selflessness, and self-interest. Acquire tools to share your story of self. Understand how operating from self-interest helps us to move through the world with purpose and come into right relationship with others as we fight together on the frontlines for justice.

All trainings will be held at 271 Grant St. Space is limited. Participation in all of the trainings is strongly encouraged. For more information, contact organizing@pushbuffalo.org.
